ATM Frequently Asked Questions
Everything we get asked about free ATM placement, ATM ownership, cash loading, vaulting, repair, and switching providers in New York.
Getting started
Can I get a free ATM for my business?
Yes — qualifying New York locations can receive a free ATM placement with no equipment cost, no installation cost, and no monthly fee. You receive a monthly revenue share from surcharge transactions.
How much does an ATM make per month?
Most performing retail ATMs in New York generate between $150 and $1,200 per month for the location owner on a free placement program. Nightlife and high-volume venues earn more; lower-volume locations earn less. The number is driven by transaction count and the surcharge level.
How much foot traffic do I need to qualify?
Most qualifying locations see 75+ customers per day. Bars, restaurants, smoke shops, gas stations, and event venues often qualify even with lower daytime traffic if they have strong evening or weekend volume.
What businesses are best for ATM placement?
Bars, nightclubs, smoke shops, convenience stores, bodegas, gas stations, restaurants, barbershops, nail salons, hotels, event venues, and laundromats consistently perform well. Cash-friendly customer base + daily foot traffic is the formula.
How long does ATM installation take?
Most installations are completed in 60–120 minutes on site. Through-wall and drive-up installations take longer because of sleeve fitting and weather sealing. Scheduling typically lands within one to two weeks of approval.
What do I need to provide for installation?
A standard 110V outlet within reach of the chosen spot. ATMs connect to processing wirelessly — no phone line or internet required.
Cost and revenue
Is the ATM really free for my business?
Yes — under the Full-Service free placement program there is no equipment, installation, monthly, or service fee. The operator (us) absorbs all costs and earns revenue from the same surcharge that pays you a monthly share.
Do ATM companies share surcharge revenue?
Reputable ones do, yes. Our split is negotiated per location — it depends on who loads the cash, who owns the machine, and the location's transaction volume. Locations that load their own cash earn a larger share, and if you purchase the machine outright you keep 100% of the surcharge (you just pay processing fees).
When and how do I get paid?
Monthly direct deposit at the end of the month, along with a detailed transaction statement that ties to the revenue calculation.
Is there any cost if my ATM is slow or doesn't perform?
No. You don't pay if the machine underperforms. We earn from the same surcharge that pays you — if the machine doesn't perform, neither of us makes money.
How much does an ATM cost if I want to buy one?
New retail ATMs range from around $2,200 for entry-level countertop units to $5,500+ for full-feature free-standing models. Certified refurbished units can save 30–50%. Ownership makes sense at higher-volume locations.
Are there hidden fees?
No. Our placement program has no monthly fee, no contract minimum, and no early-termination penalty. The only money that changes hands is the monthly revenue share we pay you.
Operations and service
Who fills the ATM with cash?
Under the Full-Service program, we do — either via armored courier or technician load, depending on the route. Under Merchant Cash Loading, you load your own cash and keep a larger revenue share.
How often does an ATM need service?
Most retail ATMs need a cash refill every 2–4 weeks and a service callout once or twice a year for paper jams, card reader cleaning, or minor parts. We monitor uptime remotely and dispatch before issues become customer-visible.
What happens if the ATM breaks down?
Remote monitoring usually alerts us before customers notice. Same-day technician dispatch is standard during business hours for placement program locations.
How does ATM vaulting work?
Vaulting is the broader cash supply chain — forecasting, armored coordination, balancing, settlement, and reporting. Cash loading (physically loading the cassettes) is one step inside vaulting. We handle vaulting end-to-end on managed locations.
Can I see transaction reports?
Yes. Online transaction reporting is included so you can verify transaction counts and reconcile revenue share against your bank deposit.
What if my ATM runs out of cash unexpectedly?
Remote balance monitoring should prevent this under the managed program. If it does happen, request an emergency fill and we'll dispatch the same business day where possible.
Placement details
Where should the ATM go in my business?
Somewhere visible from the entry without crowding service or registers. Common spots: near the front entry, end of bar/counter, restroom corridor, end-cap aisle, or near the host stand.
How big is a typical ATM?
Free-standing retail ATMs are about 24″ x 24″ at the base and around 50″ tall. Countertop models are smaller. Through-wall models embed into the wall and are accessed from outside or inside the building.
Do I need internet or phone for the ATM?
No. Modern ATMs connect to processing via secure wireless cellular — you don't need to provide internet or a phone line.
Will the ATM be branded with my business name?
Generally the ATM carries standard branding from the manufacturer and operator. Custom branding decals and toppers are available for higher-volume locations and venues.
Can I move the ATM if my business floor plan changes?
Yes — we coordinate relocations as needed. Routine layout changes are a non-issue.
Switching providers
Can I replace my existing ATM provider?
Yes. Provider switches are routine. We coordinate removal of the old machine and same-visit install of the new one so there's no visible downtime for customers.
What about my current contract with another provider?
We help you read and exit your current contract cleanly. Many ATM contracts are month-to-month or have low-cost exit terms — and the math after switching usually justifies any small early-exit fee.
Is there downtime when I switch?
Typically no. We schedule the swap during off-peak hours, pull the old unit, install the new one, and validate transactions in the same visit. Most customers never notice.
Do you remove the old ATM?
Yes — old-machine removal is included when we install a replacement.
Equipment and technology
What ATM brands do you sell and service?
Nautilus Hyosung (Halo II, Force), Genmega (Onyx, G2500, NOVA), Triton (RL5000), and Hantle/Tranax. We sell new and certified refurbished units.
Are your ATMs EMV-compliant?
Yes. All machines on our platform run current EMV firmware, and we keep firmware updated as new network requirements are released.
Do you install through-wall ATMs?
Yes — through-wall installation including sleeve, exterior facia, and weather sealing is part of our standard service offering, especially common at gas stations and standalone retail.
Can I get a countertop ATM?
Yes — countertop units (Triton RL5000 Countertop and similar) are available for bars, smoke shops, and tighter retail footprints.
What about drive-up ATMs?
Drive-up installations are available for qualifying locations, primarily at standalone retail and service stations.
Coverage and partner network
Where in New York do you service?
All of New York State — from Buffalo and Western NY to NYC and the boroughs, Long Island, the Capital Region, the Finger Lakes, and the Hudson Valley.
What if you can't directly service my location?
When a placement falls outside our direct service area, we connect it to a vetted ATM operator in our partner network. You still work with us; on-the-ground service comes from a partner closer to the location.
How does the partner network work?
We provide ATM placement, installation, sales, vaulting coordination, repair, maintenance, and location acquisition services. If we cannot directly service your location, we may connect you with a trusted ATM operator, installer, vaulting provider, or service partner — without losing the relationship.
I'm an independent ATM operator — can I join the partner network?
Yes. We accept independent operators across New York into the partner network and route geographically matched leads. There's a free operator sign-up on the Partners page.
Payments and reporting
How is the surcharge set?
Surcharge levels are set per machine based on local market norms. We'll recommend a level that maximizes revenue without driving customers away.
Who decides the surcharge amount?
Most operators leave this to us based on market data — but if you have a strong preference we'll work with you. Surcharge can be adjusted later if market conditions change.
Will I see every transaction?
Yes. Online transaction reporting lets you see every transaction with timestamp, amount, and surcharge so you can reconcile revenue share against your deposit.
Is the revenue share taxable income?
Yes — surcharge revenue share is income and should be reported the same way you'd report any other business revenue. We issue annual statements for tax filing.
